YOUR LAST PLACE LOSER BUMS!

« on: October 10, 2012, 11:06:43 PM »

Just wondering if anyone is interested in exchanging email addresses (at least) with others who post here so that in the event this forum closes we can keep in touch. Most of us have been posting together for a long time; many have met others in person. If there is a desire for that I volunteer to be the treasurer of information.

I don't. Some moron on another forum said it might (but he is a moron). As insurance it might be a good idea.

Someone had better PM Butters and see if there is anything to this.  That guy who said that might be a moron but he might have some inside information as well.  We all know that STF would like nothing better than to see our site closed down------even if we have to take it over ourselves, this board must not ever be shut down.

In all fairness to the folks at STFU - there are NO discussions about closing
 down this site.
AND there is more posting about the post season over there than here.

I did that Fred. If he says anything I will let everyone know.

I echo that what Pumpsie said, bo.  I have no issues with STF board.  I post there on and off.  There are many there I like to exchange views with.

With 'busy traffic', there are 2 ways to look at it:
1. number of posts and
2. number of users.

So, a board could have 3-4 users - hypothetically - who could go on back and forth on a thread for pages, but it doesn't necessarily mean "popular."  Also vice-versa, a board could have lots of registered users who rarely post.

For me, it's about community.  And I've really enjoyed the fun and spirit here.  Ups and downs.  And we frequent users tend to understand where we all come from over the years.

Regardless, I'm sure we'll find a solution to this.

Just FYI, I had a board set up for a short period when the BDC boards went down. I still own the domain name (bosoxboard.com) and could easily set up a forum again. Someone else would need to moderate, though, as I don't have that kind of time. But I'd be happy to set it up and turn it over to one of the regulars here if it comes down to that.

I certainly agree that this group has become a close knit community.  I enjoy the spirit here.  It would sad to see it  close.  But why would it?  We actually have more regular posters than STFU, I think.  They may have more posts but a lot is simply repeats of articles published elsewhere ( not that there is anything wrong with that.)  Even TalkSox has seen a reduction in posts.

Mark---send Pumpsie a PM with your E-Mail address and keep that line of thought open.  You never know.

Here is what Vic (Killboi) wrote to me in an email:

No

Unless there is some secret plan that I don't know about trufan is not closing down and there are no plans to do so either.

Still, no forum lasts forever. It will eventually die. Anyone who has not yet sent me your email address who would like to exchange it please do so. Got about five of us so far.

Got it. Also, I sent out an email with a summary of all the information I have so far. There are still some who post here who have not yet provided email addresses. Not sure if they intend to do so, but if they choose to do so I will forward that too by regular email.
Vic says this forum, to the best of his knowledge, is not closing and that Butters, though silent here, is still the mod.
