So, let's get it started.  O's and Rangers tonight....

(PS. a little self-promotion  Wink - I'm on the short list to pen the screenplay for the Josh Hamilton movie, produced by Casey Affleck (Ben's brother).  It's going to be a lot of conference calls, meetings, and "pitching" to win the gig.  If I do, I'll guess I'd have the inside scoop as to where he's going to end up in 2013.  Wink)

Good luck, ipot.

Gotta run my son's soccer practice, but heading straight for the tv when I get home to watch the rangers and o's.  I'm hoping the o's win.

Alcs prediction:  tigers v yankees (I'm really going out on the limb  Grin).  tigers winning the alcs.

My sentimental favorite is oakland.

I believe the reds will win the nlcs.

WS prediction: reds over tigers.

The St Louis= Atlanta game sure was ugly.  It was exciting but ugly game with awful fielding by both teams and inept umpiring.

Best of luck with that, ipot. That would certainly be cool.

Watching the jackass Braves fans throwing stuff on the field because their bozo team lost. Really classy group, those Braves fans. They need a stadium like the Trop. It would suit them.

Go O's!!

THanks for the good vibes, folks.  Fingers crossed.

But, better yet, the O's win.  Time to kick some NYYs around Smiley

Ugly mess in Atlanta, though.

O's v yanks beginning tomorrow in Camden Yards.  A lot of people around the ny area are upset about the alds format this year with the yanks having to play the 1st 2 away.  O's need at least a split at home.  I love that mlb added the 2nd wc and making the divisional title and best record in the league a lot more important.  Imo, mlb should go a step further and the winner of the wc play-in game should only have 1 game at home in the divisional series against the team with the best overall record.  Make it a 1-4 format, meaning the 1st game is home for the wc team and next 4 are in the stadium of the team who won the best overall record.  In football, the best overall record in the league is a huge attraction because the team plays all playoff games at home and play one less game than most of the other playoff teams.

Looking at the numbers, it has for quite a while looked like home field is statistically almost negligible, imho.  If you look at the standings, you really see on average about +5 or +6 difference in Ws at home vs. the road (over a sample size of 81 games).  In football and basketball, home advantage is a much bigger deal.

The O's FWIW were only 1 game better at home than they were on the road.

Our very own Dread Sox were BETTER by 1 game on the road this year Wink

Verlander made just one mistake and Coco took him long. Then he shut down the A's. I hope they figure out how to hit next game.
